Looking for something to do after WordCamp and before the After Party? Join Girl Develop It and YIKES, Inc. for a WordCamp Philly happy hour. All are welcome! Come have food, drinks, discuss WordCamp and everything WordPress.

The event is 5:30pm to 7:30pm upstairs at the Khyber Pass Pub in Old City, right around the corner from the After Party location. There will be appetizers, drink specials and great conversation.

We are thrilled to announce that Helen Hou-Sandí will be the keynote speaker at WordCamp Philly 2014!

Helen has been interested in WordPress since being introduced to the platform in 2008. After moving her blog to WordPress, she started to realize the opportunities that it provided and began to incorporate into her work.  She has grown from a blogger/web developer to a WordCamp attendee  to WordCamp speaker and employee at one of the top WordPress development agencies.

Today, Helen works as the Director of Platform Experience at 10up. Her current position allows her to give back to WordPress full time as a WordPress core committer and has recently lead to the announcement that she will be the release lead on WordPress 4.0.

As release lead, Helen will be responsible for determining all important parameters for a release, like schedule, deadlines, which feature plugins are merged, and more generally, scope and goals. We hope to hear more about what it’s like to be release lead and WordPress 4.0 at WordCamp!

WordCamp Philly 2014 is just around the corner! We have been extremely lucky to be provided with an awesome WordPress community here in Philly and you all know that our WordCamp wouldn’t be so awesome without your help! We are asking you all to give us a hand again this year and volunteer a little bit of your time to assure that everything runs smoothly. There are tons of different volunteer opportunities so please head over to our Volunteer Page and sign up! We will need a few helping hands for both Saturday and Sunday’s events. A few of the positions we are looking to fill are Registration/Check In, people to man the video cameras during sessions, Happiness Bar volunteers and more!
