WordCamp Philly Showcase

Philadelphia-area businesses and WordPress developers: We want to feature interesting and impressive work by Philly-area developers and firms that show off just what can be done with WordPress. We are collecting “portfolio” slides from those developers and firms in order to display them during WordCamp Philly 2014. If you’re interested in having your work showcased, please follow the instructions on our Github project. We’ll be putting together a slideshow of all the entries and hosting it on that project page and will be displaying it throughout the WordCamp weekend.

We look forward to seeing examples of your impressive work!

Help Us Make WordCamp Philly Awesome!

WordCamp Philly 2014 is just around the corner! We have been extremely lucky to be provided with an awesome WordPress community here in Philly and you all know that our WordCamp wouldn’t be so awesome without your help! We are asking you all to give us a hand again this year and volunteer a little bit of your time to assure that everything runs smoothly. There are tons of different volunteer opportunities so please head over to our Volunteer Page and sign up! We will need a few helping hands for both Saturday and Sunday’s events. A few of the positions we are looking to fill are Registration/Check In, people to man the video cameras during sessions, Happiness Bar volunteers and more!

Looking for Somewhere to Stay During WordCamp Philly?

We have worked with the Holiday Inn Express to provide WordCampers with a great rate of $124 per night! If you are looking for somewhere to stay in center city while attending WordCamp we recommend you give them a call and lock in your room at this reduced rate ASAP!

The Holiday Inn Express is a short 7 minute walk to the venue and close to a number of great attractions in Philadelphia!

To book your room please call the Holiday Inn Express at 1-800-972-2796 and let them know you are with the group: WordCampPhilly 2014. Please call soon because the reduced rate is only guaranteed until May 6th. You may be able to book at the same rate after May 6th, but there is no guarantee!

Call For Speakers: Work-From-Home

Many previous WordCamps have had panel discussions with variations on “how to start a WordPress business” or “how to run a distributed company”. At WordCamp Philly this year, we wanted to try a little something different, something that comes at these issues from the other side, namely: how can you best be a part of a distributed company? We’ve heard from CEOs, founders and product-makers and have gotten a lot of good input on how to stay sane while running a WordPress business. Let’s help each other stay sane when working for those sorts of people.

We’re looking to get folks thinking about such issues as

  • time management
  • keeping up communication with your teammates
  • maintaining proper work/life balance
  • advantages and disadvantages of working from home
  • tax implications
  • making the leap from a traditional office environment

…and any other issues that you, our speakers, bring to the table.

We’re putting together a panel of folks to discuss just this issue, so if you’re a part of a distributed company and would be comfortable participating, fill out our speaker form, select the “Panel” track and put “Working From Home” in the talk title.

We look forward to hearing from you all!
